HYSCAN II - Hydrogen Analysis in Molten Aluminum

The Only One of Its Kind in the World

  .

The presence of hydrogen in molten aluminum creates significant challenges for casting and foundry industries, since high residual hydrogen content can lead to severe porosity after solidification, resulting in rejected parts or the risk of mechanical failure.

.

The H-Scan system enables a substantial improvement in both the quality and reliability of aluminum castings by allowing precise control of hydrogen content in molten aluminum just before casting. No over- or under-degassing. No rejects. No wasted time or money.

🔹 General Description

  • The H-Scan II is a molten aluminum hydrogen analyzer based on the Reduced Pressure Test (RPT) method.
  • It is designed to measure dissolved hydrogen gas in liquid aluminum to prevent porosity defects in cast products.
  • This is a widely used industrial reference system in foundries, recycling plants, and aluminum alloy production facilities.

Operating Principle

  • A sample of molten aluminum is taken and placed in a sealed chamber
  • The system reduces pressure inside the chamber
  • Dissolved hydrogen is released during solidification
  • The instrument measures the released gas volume
  • Results are expressed as cm³ of H₂ per 100 g of metal
  • Full analysis is completed in under 5 minutes
